What is the best way to get prospects for life insurance sales?

I dislike walking down the streets head hunting. I found that fire seminars attract many people who are not sincere. I contacted a company for leads and read that they simply gathered names from people who called in for quotes and disseminated the names for a fee. I didn’t feel my company could compete with others companies because of it’s higher rates due to it being a home service company. Also, I find myself trying to sell to very poor people, who really don’t have the money to afford insurance. Its a every day hassle calling them to remind them to pay their insurance. They need the insurance, but they are not good prospects. I understand when they can’t pay. My company does not. I am held responsible and will be possibly fired.
Advertise in more upsacle sections of newspapers, rwdio and other venues. Hand your cards out at different events or set up a booth. Like today I’m sure there is parade of some sort in your area.
term life insurance question?

i just called select quote and got a quote for a fixed 30 year insurance plan for 500,000 at $38/month. do you all think that’s a good rate? they don’t charge me anything if i choose to discontinue the insurance. i wanted to get some feedback from you all. i was interested in it bc i just had my son and wanted it "just in case." in your experience is the deal i got good? i calculated it and if i paid 38 dollars/month for 30 years and nothing happened to me it would be over 13,000 down the drain. but i guess that’s the purpose of insurance. please let me know your thoughts.
and, i got the quote over the phone and may have lied about my weight, etc. the rep told me later in the convo that a nurse practitioner will be coming by my house to take a physical and will want my doctor’s info to get my medical records. what are your experiences with that?
They have a nurse check you out to make sure you didn’t lie about things such as diabetes or other bad medical problems. I don’t know how much over you lied about your weight but usually that isn’t a problem unless you’re morbidly obese. I even passed one after I was diagnosed with cancer. I decided not to purchase it though for other reasons.
I used to have an insurance policy that "built up cash" in case I wanted to turn it in at some point in the future. I paid 50$ a month and over a few years when I turned it in I got a few hundred back (I only had it about 4 or 5 years at the most and was pressured by my family to cancel it because they don’t believe in life insurance and thought I was wasting my money). In time you could borrow against it to but I never did. I think that might be the better way to go if you could get one like that. In case of an emergency you could cancel it and get some money back. But the price you were quoted isn’t too bad a price either. I just never liked term insurance because at the end you’ve paid all that money and get nothing (unless of course you die during it haha). Then you have to get another one and the rates will be a lot higher because you’re 30 years older than you were at the beginning of the old policy and they might refuse you coverage due to something that recently comes up. If I were to get life insurance again it would be forever or nothing. I don’t want to renew it only to hear "sorry you’ve been turned down after 20 years with us because of your high blood pressure (for example)" then I’d have to scramble for coverage and pay twice as much.
Switching terms or conditions of life insurance?

Ok, so let’s say I take out a 20 year term life insurance policy then after 13 years I want to convert to whole life. If I’m currently at a 1a rating, do I have to go through medical exams again and risk having my rating changed? In other words, what happens if I have a heart attack between now and then and then want to change policies? Would they then rate me 4c or something and it end a relatively larger amount?
There are "guaranteed renewable and convertable" riders you can add to that term policy, when you first buy it. As long as you’re not increasing coverage, you could convert it to whole life whenever you wanted to, at the predetermined rate. Not the predetermined term rate, the "guaranteed convertable" rate. It will be a lot higher, as the whole rate is higher than the term rate.
They won’t rerate you, unless you want to increase your cvoerage amount.

Life insurance for Medical Marijuana user?

Is it possible to get a healthy (best rate) health insurance for a CA, medical Marijuana user? I use everyday for insomnia (before bed) and hate to think i have to stop the medication for a few months to get a good quote. I am in great shape (marathon runner) and in my late thirties. I know that some of you who balk at Medical Marijuana but that not the debate.(so leave those "you should take drugs" comments out. I just wanna know who I can contact (and be honest with my use) and not get a "smokers rate" I don’t even smoke it when i take it.
My Buddy just went through this last year.he was getting a $1.500.000 policy and they sent a nurse to his office to give him a check up and draw fluids(urine and blood) He had to dry out for a month before the appointment. If you have a doctors script for MMJ they can’t judge you on that. And what about if you were taking MARINOL you would also test positive…This might be a good question for your States Insurance Commissioner…
Hope this helps some..

I am a 22yr old female who lives in New Orleans, LA. I caused a fender bender one year ago and got an improper lane usage ticket. I got a speeding ticket for being 9 miles over the limit when I was 18. WHY ARE MY INSURANCE QUOTES ALWAYS AROUND $200??? When will it go down? I don’t even have a car because I can’t afford the insurance.
There is a company in Dallas Texas that covers Louisiana. They are $60 a month for full coverage. I was 22/23 when I lived there.
I hope this helps. I lived in New Orleans for 2 years. Great City. I need to come visit soon

age.
If I am not allowed to have whole life insurance due to being on medicaid, can my son purchase a policy on me..are there any he could purchase without me having an exam and a lot of health questions?
can someone make payments to a funeral home so there is something at least before you die to help assist my kids by paying at least a little (I am poor)
First, term life insurance provides coverage for a specific number of years, it does not last forever.
If you are unable to get whole life insurance, it seems term life insurance may be the only option for you.
Yes, your son can buy the policy for you and even pay the premiums. They will probably need your signature to take out the policy.
Yes, there are no medical exam life insurance policies. There is globe life, stonebridge life and term life with no exam coverage that offers up to $250,000 of protection, depending on your age.
If you only need $30,000 or less of coverage to provide for your funeral expenses you may want to consider Globe Life. They offer up to $30,000 of simplified life insurance to people age 78 and under. You can apply online in minutes and get approved for your policy today. There’s no medical exam and Globe Life has more than 2.5 million policyholders.
You can learn more about Globe Life at http://www.term-life-online.com/globe-life-insurance.html
I hope that helps! Best of luck to you.

I read a previous thread suggesting MediCare, but I am not talking about HEALTH insurance. They only have term life insurance tied to current job, and they need to retire. They have no burial policy, and each is worried about leaving the other with burial expenses and debts. I have seen a few ads online, but when you get to the fine print, they seem mostly like scams. They probably wouldn’t get a very good rating if a health exam were required. Probably $15 -$25K max would be the amount needed. They live in Texas if that matters.
I just went through the same thing with my brother. He had recently been diagnosed with cancer. I posted here and got some great responses. The company that helped us was located at http://www.lvhealthins.com Because of my brother’s condition there is a two year waiting period before full benefit will be payable but it is with a great company and the people there at Insurance advisors were great to work with. They listened to our problem and were also able to help me with Health Insurance. It works out well that you are from Texas. They are based in Texas and Nevada. Good Luck
Started insurance agency in Kentucky – need ideas…?

I opened an independent insurance agency in Kentucky recently. I hired a licensed producer to help me solicit auto, home & life insurance. I also hired a tele-marketer to call leads for new business.
With a limited budget, how could I attract more people to call us for free insurance quotes? We represent the biggest and best insurance companies for auto, home and life insurance.
Our rates are crazy-competitive for Kentucky residents…we just need to find a way (despite the cold weather) to get people to call or email us for free quotes.
We are legally able to quote insurance for any resident in Kentucky. We will have a website up and running in the next few months…as soon as we find someone to help us create a solid site.
As for advertising, we haven’t started any system yet. We know our stuff when it comes to insurance…just need ideas to grow our client base quickly.
Thanks for any ideas…
There’s a pretty good book out there about marketing (in general) titled "Guerilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson or How to Drive Your Competition Crazy by Guy Kawasaki.
Both are pretty good and give you some pretty good ideas.
Call 1-800-WEINSURE. Ask for Patrick or Dick and tell them you want to check on their program. Pretty slick and it WILL make your phone ring.
Next – network. Join the Chamber, get out and about and everyone gets a business card.
Try your local "want ad papers" like Thrifty Nickel or whatever. Run some ads in "the readers" – not display ads. CHEAP CAR INSURANCE and your phone number.
Join your agent association in your area – either PIA or Big I and go to conventions or insurance Expos. Even go to events in other States. I have been going to the Insurance Expo in Atlanta for the past 10-12 years and ALWAYS come back with SOMETHING!
Give everyone of your customers several of your cards. Write THEIR name on the back and have them give them to their friends and have their friends come to your office for for quotes. When they come in with the card, put the card in a box and every quarter, give away a color TV or something nice. Take pictures of you giving the winner the remote control, hang the picture somewhere prominent and do the same thing over again.
I could go on and on – so, email me direct and I can do what I can to give yo usome more pointers.
27, single, no kids, great health, should i get term life insurance?

I spoke to an agent and he recommended life insurance (since in the future I plan on having a family, kids husband). Term insurance for 10 20 or 30 years is pretty cheap ranging from 10-16 bucks a month for me, whole life is A LOT more. I understand the rate for whole life will just keep going up as i get older, but he said it would make sense for me to get term just so I can take the medical test and in the future 10 years (or before the term life insurance expires) I decide to get a whole life policy with the same company (met life) they would still quote me a premium at the health I had when I got my term policy (in case my health were to worsen)….
Am i Making sense..
So basically he said to get the term insurance just so I can take the test now and wont have to in the future (20-30 years) which by then who knows what my health may be….My age will pay a factor at that time at how much whole life will be, but my health work for me and not against me….
What do you say? (then by 20 years I can really see if im going the route of having kids etc)
yes
