Term Life Insurance Vs. Whole Life

There is a constant debate between term life insurance vs whole life insurance. Some types of life insurance — permanent life insurance policies — have a monetary value that you can obtain by cashing out the policy or by borrowing against it. Though it can seem attractive, most financial experts agree that this feature should be seen as a secondary purpose of life insurance.
Another type of life insurance is term life insurance.. Examples of term life insurance include mortgage insurance and annual renewable term. The premiums of annual renewable term are determined the chance that the insured will decease within the specified term. Mortgage insurance guarantees that mortgage loans will be paid by the insurer in the event of the insured’s passing.
Term life insurance is a great way to protect your family or business during the time when they are most vulnerable. Having term life insurance will generate you a sensation of serenity that you have taken measures to protect your loved ones. The best part is term life insurance is very low-cost for most people. As just mentioned, one of the greatest pro’s of term life insurance is the low cost. All term life insurance policies blanket you for a specific amount of time – the term. The term that’s appropriate for you depends on how old your children are, how many years before you retire, and other factors. Many people enjoy knowing they’re insured until they’re ready to retire, usually at age 65. Many just require insurance until their youngest child graduates from college, and so they make sure their life insurance coverage includes money to pay for all of the college tuition
Most experts concur that you should have insurance at least until your youngest child is 18. So if your child is 3 now, you would need to carry your insurance for a minimum of 15 years. But that doesn’t mean you have to lock into a 15-year term – you could instead buy an annual renewable policy and renew it for 14 years in a row. You should liken the total 15-year cost of the annual renewable policy and the 15-year term policy, making adjustments for the time and value of money, to ascertain what the best value is for you.
It is important to understand while shopping how term life insurance vs whole life insurance saves you money. Term life insurance insures you for a certain number of years. Since the payout isn’t guaranteed, the premiums are much lower than on a permanent life policy. It’s common to use term life to insure yourself during your working life, and investing the amount you save on premiums for your retirement. The older you get, the more expensive your life insurance is going to be. Buying life insurance while you’re young means paying lower premiums. And on some plans, you have the option to lock-in a ‘level premium’ — meaning it won’t rise as you age .
can anyone recommend a reputable no exam life insurance ?

My husband was recently denied life insurance. We were shopping around because his 20 year term life is about to expire. Thecurrent company wanted over $500 a month to convert if to a permanent policy. He is out of work so cannot afford to do that. We do have an agent who had found us another plan, but underwriter has turned him down due to an aortic aneurysm that is small and under control. So now, guess our best option is going to be one of those no exam policies, but would still like to have at least 100,000 in coverage. We were told to steer clear of AARP (my husband is 53) as they have bad reputation for finding reasons not to pay out. Any suggestions?
I seriously doubt that you can find anywhere near that amount of coverage without a medical underwriting requirement. Most of those "guaranteed coverage" policies are limited to $10K or so.
Health Insurance … help.?

I would like to know which is the better option.
A health insurance company is selling me on a plan with a 3000 deductible. 0% Coinsurance. Out of Pocket Max is 0$ after the deductible is met. 30 co-pay for 6 visits (including specialist) then after the 7th visit, 60 copay once the deductible is met.
Preventive services are covered by the HIC (health insurance co). Ambulance $150, urgent care $55, Emergency $150 (waived if admitted). In patient and outpatient services are 100% covered by HIC. Short term therapies (20 per benefit year) are covered 100% by HIC. Vision Exam once every 12 months is a 15 copay. Chiropractic services (6 per benefit year) at $25. Mental health (optional: I will not opt for it). Prescription drug coverage: (I’m just going to say YES for this one. Like $10 for generic)
Out of Network Benefits: Deductible is same (3000) Co insurance is 50%. Out of Pocket Max is 100% covered once deductible is met. Convenience care clinic services, urgent care, ER, Ambulance: Same is In-network co-pays. Preventive: covered in In-network only. This plan also included Dental with a $25 copay for most services and then offers discounts for other major services, ex: impacted wisdom tooth extraction at 60%)
Cost: $113/month. The only downside of this plan is that the In Network isn’t nationwide so if I were to travel and get sick or injured I would have to pay the 50% until the deductible is reached. With this plan though, it is month to month so if I move I can change to another health insurance company to provide me with more in-network options.
Whew, ok… here is the other plan I spoke with a broker about.
This one is a Fixed Benefit Plan or (Fixed Indemnity). For 104/month. Includes Dental with a fixed cap of 1,500 (meaning I can go in and get services up to $1,500, but if it costs more I’m SOL for the benefit year).
There is no deductible with the HIC. Instead the HIC pays for $50 towards the doctor/specialist visit (4 per year). If the doctor is in-network, I get a 40% discount off the office visit and then the $50 is applied.
If I were to get sick and needed to stay overnight in the hospital, the plan would cover $1000 per night. If In-network, a 30% discount is applied to the total bill before the $1000 per night coverage).
If an accident occurs the HIC covers $2000 per night (again In-network 30% discount can be applied)
All of this has a Life time maximum cap of 2 million. In-patient and out-patient surgery is covered %100 based off a 2010 fixed medicare physician schedule. ER and Urgent care (1 visit per year): $250. The HIC will pay $100 towards ambulance and $1,500 for air-lift ambulance (max 2 per year). Prescriptions: Generic $10. There is a discount card to save 30-40% on prescriptions, also discounts apply for vision and chiropractic services at 10-60%.
So if you took the time to read all this… which do you think is the better deal?
And THANK YOU for your advice…this is a lot to read.
Oh and with the second option there are a lot more in-network providers nationwide. This plan is also month to month.
Personally, I’d opt for the second plan.
What’s America thoughts on the choice of Independent candidates running?

These are potential nominees and the one nominee, so far I like Harvey myself. But thought I show them, as no one else will show them.
Thoughts?
******************
He is a Non-Traditional candidate that has recently emerged from the middle class.
He brings no political bragging rights, but brings a wealth of life and experiences on main street USA. An unknown man that can, bring back the respect we loss with the world. In college he was called a non-traditional student as a term used for older students that most raising a family, are employed, and have several life stressors that younger traditional students may not have to experience.

Virginian born Stewart Alexis Alexander is the perfect model of a concerned citizen. An average American turned political activist, the cleaning company owner and “automobile sales consultant” (as his filings for California’s 2006 Lieutenant Governor elections showed), is also the Chairperson for the Socialist Party of California as well as the Executive Director of the African American Civil Liberties Union.
Alexander, who once served as a reserve in US Air Force March Joint Air Reserve Base, will be participating in his fourth top-tier election following defeats in Los Angeles Mayoral (1989), California’s Lieutenant Governorship (2006), American Vice-President (2008) and California’s gubernatorial (2010) elections. His first brush with politics was back in a very non-Orwellian 1984, when he campaigned for the Democratic presidential nominee, Reverend Jesse Jackson.

Burck’s journey to fame began in 1997 when he won a radio contest in his hometown Cincinnati, with the prize being an appearance as an extra on the hit TV show, Baywatch. Despite his high hopes, the cameo lasted for all of two seconds. It appeared that the then 27-year old dream of a career in Hollywood was heading for a quick end. However, a concatenation of events that began from a suggestion of good friend and theatre agent Sid Craig, eventually resulted in the creation of The Naked Cowboy personae – a guitar totting, cowboy boots and hat wearing busker dressed in a Star-Spangled themed briefs.
And now, 14 years on, Burck is finally ready to take the next leap in his dream of becoming, in his own words, “the wealthiest person who has ever lived”. A tall order, you might say. But then again, we are talking about a man who reportedly sends a postcard monthly to everyone he has ever met in his life.

Charlie Crist became the 44th governor of Florida in January of 2007. He quickly established the Office of Open Government by Executive Order to make the government more accessible to the people. His main focus since taking office has been addressing the state’s high property taxes and insurance costs. Crist oversaw the largest tax cut in state history and passed Cover Florida Health Care plan to give affordable insurance to thousands of uninsured.
Crist attended Wake Forest University for two years. He obtained an undergraduate degree from Florida State University and a law degree from Cumberland School of law in Alabama in 1981. Passing his bar exam after two previous attempts, Crist accepted a position as counsel to Minor League Baseball in St. Petersburg, Florida. Politics attracted him but after a failed attempt at the Senate in 1986 he joined his then brother-in-law’s private law practice. In 1988 he became an aid to Senate candidate and eventual winner Connie Mack and he himself won a Senate seat in 1992.

Becky Rusher is a non-political non-party person. She freely expresses her dislike of career politicians that have forgotten why they are where they are. They are there because they got people to believe in them.
While Becky Rusher is not known she does have strong feelings on the issues. Becky’s main thought for running for president is to get others to realize they do not have to follow along with a certain party. She believes everyone is their own person and has valid ideas and those ideas should be put out there in the world. Whether by blog, emails, or running for president of a country.

Voting independent is mostly all I do, it amazes me that people still think the regular politicians are the only ones capable of doing things in office.
Edit: Oh Pumpkin, someday you’ll realize it doesn’t matter, Republican crap and Democrat crap is still crap.

How can i obtain british citizenship asap and leave the states?

I am not anti-american or anything, its just that I don’t like it here. We grew up in trinidad because my father worked for petrotrin and then BPTT, both companies paid to move us there and provided us with housing on the refinery.
Life was fun on the island and since it was a british island it still had the british influence. I even went to secondary school there and did CXC (gcse is what I think they call it in the UK, but its basically the same thing) and got all ones.
We are back in the US now and I go to ASU, I absolutely hate it here now since its nothing like the caribbean. Its just not the same; I can’t find anyone to play cricket with, footbal, rugby…etc. Even the education is different, its watered down and everything is multiple choice. Basically all I have to do is slack off and then guess the answers on the end of term exams. Oh and the culture and people are different here too.
I just wanna obtain citizenship in a country that has a british influence and not americanized like canada and some of the virgin islands. I checked out the website and basically I need to have a lot of cash and a PhD to have enough points to even be considered. Do you all know of any other ways to get british citizenship?
Once again I don’t hate my country, anyone reading this living in america knows its becoming a police state and all our rights are slowly going away. healthcare is still privatized and tertiary education is the cost of buying a house. I just wanna go back to old times where life was actually enjoyable and I didn’t have to spend every penny paying for health insurance and for tuition. Trinidad actually offers free tertiary education and free healthcare and its a 3rd world country. I have no idea what the usa is doing with our tax dollars and I don’t wanna know. I just wanna get the heck outta here before I go broke. I am praying that a foreign company scouts me like they did to my dad. Life on the refinery was like heaven; 2 story house, pool, tennis court, company car..etc. Life overseas is just better, a job in the US with benefits like that doesn’t even exist and supposedly this country is #1…smh. The USA’s definition of job benefits is paid healthcare…wow. Just imagine that, a perk is getting to see a doctor for free…lol. That was actually a right in trinidad and most other countries.
This could be cut down dramatically and more people would read it. The answer is NO, there is no shortcut to British citizenship. Talk to the nearest British consulate and see if you missed anything in your research. By the way there is NO free education or health care anywhere. You pay for it in higher taxes…and most countries with that system are also going broke now.
DO I need term life insurance again?

My wife and I have been paying our term life insurance for many years( probably 20 years) and one morning we decided not to renew. We messed up with our job’s accidental death life insurance. We thought we covered under our company’s insurance and no need to get same insurance twice. We were not think about death could come sudden.
My wife unexpectedly passed away last year and was due to brain aneurysm. It was claasified as "natural death". Now I have no term life insurance and no company accidental death insurance.
Just passed 60 and all kids are grown-up. Should I start my term life insurance again?
Since I have no spouse to taken care off. Read from some blogs that no sense to pay life insurance to leave it to my kids, since they got my inheritance already.
Getting back into life insurance, need med exam etc, am sure premium must be quite high.
But someday might get marry again, will definitely need to get some insurance to take care of the new wife.
Want to start this dialog and solicit some feedback. Thanks
Do you have a JOB you need that term life to accomplish? If not, you don’t need to buy life insurance of ANY kind.
"Some day" you might get married again. Not good enough of a reason, IMO.
Regarding term life and the physical exam…?

Is it normal for an insurance company to schedule an exam at your home? This sounds weird to me. I copied this from the SBLI website:
Paramedic exam: For all term life insurance plans, we schedule a simple paramedic exam – at no cost to you – in the convenience of your home or workplace.
Be very careful. Always have someone around even if not in the same room. Ask for a visible ID with a photo before allowing them to enter your home. Call the company for confirmation if any doubt. Any medical advice offered, consult with your own physician. You should not be asked to strip or be touched in an invasive or intrusive manner.
Does any body know where to get Affordable Life Insurance?

Where can I find affordable life insurance for sr citizen in-laws?
I read a previous thread suggesting MediCare, but I am not talking about HEALTH insurance. They only have term life insurance tied to current job, and they need to retire. They have no burial policy, and each is worried about leaving the other with burial expenses and debts. I have seen a few ads online, but when you get to the fine print, they seem mostly like scams. They probably wouldn’t get a very good rating if a health exam were required. Probably $15 -$25K max would be the amount needed. They live in Texas if that matters.

Optometrists, what does this prescription for new glasses mean?
April 27, 2010 by

I had eye exam yesterday, and was given a script for glasses. It reads:
right = sphere -0.50 cylinder SPH
left = sphere -.75 cylinder -0.50 axis 065
Lens Type SVL
Tint/Coating ARC (I know what this is)
What does this mean, in layman’s terms? I was told that my right eye is fine. If that’s true, why can’t I see the numbers on the bus with my R eye, when my L eye is closed? What am I "supposed" to be able to see?
Will my eyes worsen rapidly without glasses? It was recommended I use them only for distance, and remove them for reading/close work (which is 90% of my life). I am wondering if it would be OK to maybe not fill the prescription, since I don’t have insurance, and get glasses a little later. Are my eyes "bad"? What’s going on in there?!
Any recommendations for where I can get the prescription filled, somewhat inexpensively?
You do need glasses to sharpen your distance vision. The correction is for both eyes, however, your left eye has astigmatism, which has to do the shape of the eye and how light reflects of it. You will definitely notice an improvement and "sharpness" in vision with glasses and I would definitely recommend them for driving.
The prescription is for single vision glasses as opposed to bifocals or trifocals which would have both distance and reading correction.
Your vision isn’t super "bad", but you may not see well enough to pass a driver’s vision test. You should be able to see the numbers on the bus clearly with glasses.
For getting the presciption filled inexpensively – many Walmart and Target stores have Optical departments, also lots of chain Optical centers such as Lens Crafters often have special prices.
