You may recall in the late 90's the rolling blackouts and spike in prices for energy that California experienced. That, my friend, was the result of deregulation. The other 'blue' states in the nation were prepared to follow Cali's model. Until it totally bombed. Deregulation rarely works. Still, it is possible, and a lot more practical than UHC.
References :
The reason regulation is needed at all is because without any accountability industries can't manage themselves to do whats best for people only for themselves and their shareholders. Insurance agencies would refuse any pre existing conditions and less people would be insured that need it. It would work great for healthy people then at the end of the year when you're in the middle of a life threatening illness they will drop you. Either way you might as well look at bankruptcy if you get sick.
References :
Makes way too much sense, the republicans wouldn't go for it because it makes too much sense & their friends (rich) wouldn't make as much money.
It is a shame, I would go for it!
References :
We need to deregulate all the markets. Government regulations are bad, period. That's what pushing business out of the country. No business, no jobs, unemployment, social support, your taxes go high. The market can handle by itself.
We don't need the protection of the government, we can buy by ourselves and if things go wrong, we learn and move on.
References :
Why not get rid of health insurance all together and buy the service directly from the doctor? Prices are high because companies can get that much from insurance companies. If we did away with them all together, the price of services would be forced to lower. There would be no middle man and everyone would be happy.
I do support government funded welfare for sick, elderly or otherwise disabled though.
References :
Yeah, that would make as much sense as energy deregulation did for California. Talk to a Californian and see how well deregulation worked for them
