Life Insurance for a Thai citizen?

February 16th, 2010 3 comments

I’m trying to find insurance companies that provide whole or term life insurance to Thai citizens living in Thailand that provide quotes on the internet, or easily through email or online forms. At the very least, I’m looking for insurance company recommendations for Thai citizens living in Thailand. I’m not sure which ones are legitimate. I don’t want to deal with one that will give the insured person problems or one that will close up shop in a few years.
I know there are many insurance companies – I am looking for recommendations from personal experience.

Many insurance companies here have you tried to google it. Your get lots of results. AIA is one of many life insurance provides here also most of the major banks have a life insurance program. However most of these sites will be in Thai and unless you can read thai is may be useless.

How do I get a term life insurance quote online?

My recommendation is that you call a LOCAL agent and have him/her do a FREE personal Financial Need Analysis (FNA), or other Total Need Program, to help you determine exactly how much life insurance you need, and what types or combination thereof, to accomplish your short and long-term goals and objectives. (Your quote will also be FREE.)

Keep this in mind, that Term insurance is designed to cover a temporary need for a specified period of time. According to insurance industry studies, only about 1% of death claims are paid by Term policies. The reason is that either the policy expires, lapses for non-payment, or is converted to Permanent insurance prior to the death of the insured. This is also the reason that Term insurance is so inexpensive, because insurance companies don’t expect to be paying the claims on Term policies.

With the above information in mind, you may want to consider a combination of Whole Life and Term. But the decision is completely yours, after you have gained knowledge from the personal FNA, of what your total need for life insurance is. It’s YOUR plan, and no one else’s.

The FNA will also help you determine if you need Disability Income Protection, to provide an income should you be hurt or sick and can’t work. It will also help you determine if you need an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to provide an income at retirement. (All that will be there when you get there is what you send on ahead.)

According to statistics, disability is a greater risk than death prior to the age of 65.

How flexible are life insurance quotes. Can I negotiate with company for a better rate.?

February 16th, 2010 9 comments

I got a quote for my family and me for life insurance (20 years/400K each). I would like to negotiate a better rate with the broker (assuming same coverage). Can it be done, or are the rates fixed, is there room to negotiate. we did the blood work and were offered standard rates.

Your rate can not be negotiated when the underwriting is done. If you don’t like your rate, you can refuse to accept the policy within 30 days and there will be a refund of premiums.

What you can negotiate is going through different companies. Shop around. Make sure you check the financial strength ratings from AM Best!

What Do You Think Of This About HIllary Clinton?

February 14th, 2010 9 comments

DICK MORRIS’ ANALYSIS OF BILL CLINTON’S BIO ABOUT HILLARY—
BILL CLINTON LEAVES TRUTH OUT OF HILLARY’S BIOGRAPHY—-

Check out Bill Clinton’s syrupy five minute ad for Hillary. He introduces
the commercial by saying that he wants to share some things we may
not know about Hillary’s background. Bill’s version of her biography
is about as reliable as if it appeared in Bravda!

So, since I, Dick Morris, was there for most of Bill’s presidency and
know them better than just about anyone, I need to make a few
corrections;

Bill says: Hillary never wanted to run for public office, but she did
want to work at public service. The facts are:
When Clinton was considering not running for another term as Governor
of Arkansas in 1990, Hillary said she would run if he didn’t. She and Bill
even had me take two‚ surveys to assess her chances of winning.
The conclusion was that she couldn’t win because people would just see
her as a seat warmer for when Bill came back licking his wounds after losing
for president. So she didn’t run. Bill did and won. There is no question she
had her eye on public office, As opposed to service, longggg ago.

Bill says: In law school Hillary worked on legal services for the poor.
The facts are:
Hillary’s main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the
Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal
agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring
committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for
appeal.

Bill says: Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children’s
rights‚ project for poor kids. The facts are:
Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist
Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all
the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

Bill says: Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned
down all the lucrative job offers. The facts are:
She flunked the DC bar exam and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had
no job offers in Arkansas and only got hired by the University of Arkansas
Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She
only joined the prestigious Rose Law Firm after Bill became Attorney
General and made partner only after he was elected governor.

Bill says: President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services
Board of Directors and she became its chairman. The facts are:
The appointment was in exchange for Bill’s support for Carter in his
1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary became chairman in a coup
in which she won a majority away from Carter’s choice to be chairman.

Bill says: She served on the board of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
The facts are:
Yes she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to
sit on the Wal-mart board of directors, for a substantial fee. She was
silent about their labor and health care practices as a Wal-Mart board
member.

Bill says: Hillary didn’t succeed at getting health care for all Americans
in 1994, but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children’s
Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children
with health insurance. The facts are:
Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget
deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott.
I, Bill Morris, helped to negotiate the deal. The money came half from the
budget deal and half from t he Attorney Generals’ tobacco settlement.
Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds.

Bill says: Hillary was the face of America all over the world.
The facts are:
Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would
not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White
House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic and there
was no substantive diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says: Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children’s
and women’s issues. The facts are:
Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on
courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive
pieces of legislation. One, set up a national park in Puerto Rico . A second
provided respite care for family members helping their relatives through
Alzheimer’s or other conditions. And two were routine bills to aid 9-11
victims and responders which were sponsored by the entire NY delegation.

Here is what bothers me more than anything else about Hillary Clinton.
She has done everything possible to weaken the President and our country
(that’s you and me!) when it comes to the war on terror.

1. She wants to close GITMO & move the combatants to the USA where
they would have access to our legal system.
2. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al Qeada phone
calls to/from the USA.
3. She wants to grant constitutional rights to enemy combatants captured
on the battlefield.
4. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of money transfers between
suspected Al Qeada cells & supporters in the USA .
5. She wants to eliminate the type of interrogation tactics used by the
military & CIA where coercion might be used when questioning known
terrorists, even though such tactics might save American lives.

I can’t think of a single bill Hillary has introduced or a single comment she
has made that would tend to strengthen our country in the War on Terror.
But, I can think of a lot of comments she has made that weakens our
country & makes it a more dangerous situation for all of us……..
She goes hand in hand with the ACLU on far too many issues where
common sense is abandoned.

She is a disaster for all Americans.

While I can’t confirm the veracity of the report, I do agree that HRC is NOT what this country needs… From my own research….

1. She has not developed ANY substantive legislation.
2. She has NO experience in government, except for one Senate term. The Senate is not much more than a committee with 100 persons on it.
3. She has no leadership experience as the head of an agency, CEO, head of a company, governor, mayor of a large city… or anything else that requires the person to make the ultimate decision.
4. She has no knowledge of the military.
5. She doesn’t have the temperament for dealing with crises.
6. The mainstream media refuses to treat her as an equal among all presidential contenders.
7. She continually hides from issues/dodges the questions and portrays herself as the "poor victim" when faced with serious questions.

No, I’m not a Republican or Democrat. I vote for the best person overall. Those are big shoes to fill and nobody has ALL of the qualifications – but there are certain BASIC requirements one needs – such as TOTAL AND COMPLETE HONESTY.

If you ain’t got that, you ain’t got ANYTHING! Other countries need to be able to trust us. If she can’t tell the truth to our own populace, how the hell can she tell the truth to other countries?

It’s kinda like managing your own house… if you can’t deal with your own family in an honest manner, how can you deal with the country in a similar manner.

God help us all if she gets elected.

What companies still offer "actual" Mortgage Life Insurance policies?

February 14th, 2010 8 comments

Unfortunately, there is some extensive health history that prohibits the application of such traditional Term/Whole life solutions. From what I understand, actual Mortgage Life Insurance is a decreasing plan (following the decreasing principle of your loan) that is shared by both borrowers and designed only to pay off the mortgage in the event one or both borrowers dies.

Can you give me the names, ph#, email, URL, to any companies that offer this specific insurance product?

I have already asked my lender, loan servicer, and about 100 different B.S. online quotes :) Thanks.
Just to be crystal clear…I am not looking for Term Life Insurance, Whole Life Insurance, Variable, Universal, or any other typical live insurace vehicle. Eventhough the insurance industry has muddiedthe definiton; "Mortgage Life Insurance" is a specific product in it of itself.

Primerica is a company that offers decreasing term insurance. This is what you would call mortgage insurance. But you would have to qualify for health questions. Think about it, you are looking at a large amount of money. The co. wants to be sure that they pay out as little as possible. They want healthier individuals to be policy owners. So, you are looking for decreasing term insurance. Look in your yellow pages for Primerica.

what is the difference between term/whole life insurance vs accidental death insurance?

February 14th, 2010 3 comments

I’m trying to buy life insurance for myself and my mother. I read up on this survivorship insurance which sounded pretty good since I wanted something for my mother if I were do die first and vice versa. but most of the online quotes I saw were between spouses…

But I got confused when I read about accidental death ins- does this mean I will not be covered if I die of an illness or old age- but instead must die of an accident such as auto or slip and fall??

secondly, would I get taxed on the interest earned on the universal/whole ins or when the policy is paid out/ surrendered?

Correct. Term/whole life insurance covers you if you die, no matter what the cause. Accident only covers you if you die by accident – not murder, not old age, not cancer, not heart attack, not stroke. Not covered.

Universal life is tricky. Unless the interest is added to the face value for payout, it’s not taxable when you claim it. And when you surrender the policy, it’s only taxable if there’s a GAIN – ie, you get back more than you pay out. Which is pretty rare.

Bottom line – insurance is good if you die. Investments are good if you live. And insurance isn’t a good investment. It’s a good PLANNING tool, but not a good wealth building tool.

Don’t buy accidental death. Don’t buy whole or universal. Buy term, invest the difference, and you’ll be MUCH better off in the long run.

RUN THE NUMBERS. Do the math. The numbers speak for themselves.

term life insurance question.?

February 14th, 2010 5 comments

i just called select quote and got a quote for a fixed 30 year insurance plan for 500,000 at $38/month. do you all think that’s a good rate? they don’t charge me anything if i choose to discontinue the insurance. i wanted to get some feedback from you all. i was interested in it bc i just had my son and wanted it "just in case." in your experience is the deal i got good? i calculated it and if i paid 38 dollars/month for 30 years and nothing happened to me it would be over 13,000 down the drain. but i guess that’s the purpose of insurance. please let me know your thoughts.

and, i got the quote over the phone and may have lied about my weight, etc. the rep told me later in the convo that a nurse practitioner will be coming by my house to take a physical and will want my doctor’s info to get my medical records. what are your experiences with that?

You are to be commended for thinking “the unthinkable” and for not putting it off. Now you need to find the best rate. One way to compare rates is to contact an insurance broker. A broker works with several companies and can find the best deal for you. There is no charge for the service and no obligation to buy. To find a broker in your area, log on to a website like http://www.lifeinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote. Your information will be sent to a broker in your area who will contact you.

You are right about term insurance–the premiums you pay are gone when the term is up. If you die after 30 years plus 1 day, your policy will pay nothing. You might consider whole life insurance. It covers you until you die (thus the name) and builds cash value over the years. It is much more expensive than term life insurance, but it covers a longer period and is certain to pay out a death benefit. The cash value can be used to pay the premiums later in life, to keep the policy in force. You can also borrow against the cash value.

Some experts say to invest the money you would save with term life insurance, putting it into something that with a bigger return than whole life offers. This is sound in theory, but would you really do that? If so, do you have the expertise to pick an investment that will outperform a whole life policy? Ask your broker or agent about both options.
